Alzari Joseph handed two-match suspension after altercation with captain Shai Hope
Barbados. After the 2-1 win in the three-match series between West Indies and England, fast bowler Alzari Joseph has been suspended for two matches due to a heated altercation on the field with team captain Shai Hope. The incident took place during the third ODI (ODI) match in Barbados, in which Joseph expressed a lot of anger while leaving the field. After the match, Joseph issued a statement through Cricket West Indies, in which he admitted his mistake and apologized to the captain, fellow players, management and fans. He said, "I have personally apologized to captain Shai Hope and my teammates. I also apologize to the fans of West Indies. I understand that a small mistake can have a big impact and I deeply regret that I disappointed anyone. "
The incident took place in the fourth over of the match at Kensington Oval when Joseph was already upset about his fielding position. He bowled a brilliant over but then took a wicket but then left the field in anger without telling anyone and went to the dressing room after a conversation with captain Hope, due to which the team was playing with only 10 players for some time.
However, Joseph returned after a while and later bowled. West Indies won the match by eight wickets and won the series 2-1 against England.
West Indies head coach Darren Sammy described Joseph's action as "unacceptable" after the match and expressed his disappointment.
Sammy said, "Such behavior is unacceptable on my cricket field. We are friends, but in the culture I am promoting, such behavior is not acceptable. We will definitely talk about it." West Indies Cricket Board's Cricket Director, Miles Bascombe has also strongly condemned the player's indiscipline. He said that such behavior will not be tolerated. The board has warned the players to follow discipline while representing West Indies at the international level.
Due to this indiscipline, the player has been suspended for two matches. He will not be able to play in the first two matches of the five-match T20 series against England.
